Lake Chala & Lake Jipe Overnight Trip and Tsavo West National Park Game Drive

Lake Jipe lies along the Kenya–Tanzania border and is rich in aquatic life and bird species, making it an excellent destination for bird watching and nature lovers. It is also one of the few places in Kenya where visitors can enjoy a unique boat-based game drive, offering a peaceful yet exciting way to experience wildlife on the water. Nearby is Lake Chala, a stunning deep crater lake located on the eastern edge of Mount Kilimanjaro along the Kenya–Tanzania border. The lake’s color changes with the seasons, ranging from deep blue to turquoise and green, and it is surrounded by a dramatic crater rim rising about 100 meters high. Lake Chala is fed entirely by underground streams from Mount Kilimanjaro, giving it its famously clear waters, and it is home to a rare species of tilapia found nowhere else in the world. Through underground water systems, Lake Chala also feeds Lake Jipe, connecting the two lakes naturally despite being several kilometers apart. The experience is complemented by a game drive in Tsavo West National Park, the second largest national park in Kenya. Exploring the park in an overland truck offers an exceptional safari experience, with opportunities to spot the iconic red elephants as well as zebras, giraffes, hartebeests, lesser kudu, impala, dik-dik, oryx, buffalo, ostriches, and many other wildlife species in their natural habitat.
